Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a potential move for Aston Villa youngster Andre Green in January.

Green looks destined for a bright future, and that is potentially why The Sun reported that the Villans were likely to want more than £10 million for the exciting winger.
Unfortunately for Green, it would now be difficult for Villa to try and command anything like that sort of fee if clubs come calling in the next January window with the 20-year-old currently plying his trade in the third tier on loan at Portsmouth.
Injury has meant that the Pompey fans are yet to see the best of the youngster. But with Kenny Jackett suggesting, in comments reported by The Portsmouth News, that Green is likely to start the club’s next game, perhaps it may not be out of the question to suggest that he may stand the slightest chance of forcing his way back onto Spurs’ radar in the near future.

On Tuesday, Spurs’ under-21 side travel to Fratton Park for their final group game in the EFL Trophy. Pompey have already qualified for the next stage but defeat would see them lose top spot in the group, while Tottenham need a positive result to follow them into the next round.
For the two sides therefore, there are some important stakes. So if Green can make an impact in the game and provide some glimpse of why he has previously been linked with an eight-figure Premier League move, then perhaps Spurs will feel compelled to consider making a fresh move.
Green is young enough to develop significantly in the coming years. So given the interest from earlier this year, it should surely make a lot of sense for Tottenham to have another look if he outshines their youngsters on Tuesday.
