Leeds United have lost two of their talented young players and another could follow in the form of Charlie Taylor.
There was a time when Leeds United had a group of first-team stars touted as the most talented bunch of youngsters outside the top flight, but since then Sam Byram has moved to West Ham United and Lewis Cook has swapped Elland Road for Bournemouth.
With question marks regarding Charlie Taylor’s future, that could leave just one of the golden generation in the form of Alex Mowatt, provided of course he signs a new contract of his own in due course.
Mowatt has had a mixed time at Leeds to date, breaking through in 2013 before enjoying a great campaign the following year, scoring nine goals from midfield and turning out 38 times in the Championship.
Much was expected of Mowatt last season, but the 21-year-old was used in a variety of different positions and struggled to have the same impact out on the wing.
A return to the centre of the park under new Whites boss Garry Monk should see him blossom once more, but could he also be the one Leeds youngster who stays and ultimately becomes a superstar at the club?
With Monk at the helm there is a good chance Leeds could finally earn promotion back to the top flight, and if Mowatt is there to help them he could ultimately follow his former teammates to the promised land without having to leave Yorkshire.
Last season may have been a blip for Mowatt, but the way things are going he could be the only one of the talented quartet who is with Leeds for the long haul.
