Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly showing an interest in Alassane Plea, with Footmercato crediting them with a £22 million offer.
Plea would be an alternative to the more costly Anthony Martial, but in terms of what Plea could offer Spurs, he could be more reminiscent of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
Plea is a pacy forward who thrives playing out on the flank and cutting inside, also able to play up front.
He scored 21 goals this past season and provided six assists.
With Harry Kane a fixture in Tottenham’s first choice starting line-up, Plea would have to rely on starts in the wide position in order to flourish.
His track record for Nice suggests he is highly capable, and £22 million or a fee in this price range could be a bargain.
Plea is 25, the same age Salah was when he joined for Liverpool.
He would arrive at Tottenham with an impressive goalscoring record and would offer Spurs a totally different outlet in attack.
Salah has transformed Liverpool into an attacking super power, and Tottenham are just missing an x-factor to terrorise stern defences when they are able to lock down Kane.
Plea would offer them something different, and at a very modest price.
At Spurs he could quickly become a superstar and see his value rocket within one season just like Salah’s has at Liverpool.
