Could Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace turnaround land him the England job?

The Eagles are in superb run of form after a poor start to the season, and Pardew may now be a serious candidate for the Three Lions job.

If you would have speculated only a month ago that Alan Pardew could have gotten his team performing to a level that would make him a viable candidate for the England job, firstly you may have said, ‘we only just appointed Sam Allardyce!’ and then you might have implied a look at the table would put a dampener on such a notion.

Crystal Palace lost their first five league matches, only registering a point with a late equaliser at home to Bournemouth.

However, since then Pardew has significantly improved performances and results, winning three successive games and then drawing away to Everton.

The Eagles were in the top seven before Saturday’s afternoon matches, and of course, the England job is available again after Sam Allardyce found himself out of the job having only taken charge of one game.

If Pardew has designs on the England job, and with the unpredictable nature of his Palace spell suggesting it wouldn’t be a huge disappointment to some of the Selhurst Park if he did leave, he may not have a better opportunity.

He is by far the highest Englishman up the league table, and has proved that with a quality striker such as Christian Benteke leading his line, he can make a side very competitive.

The irony is that the longer Pardew keeps his team displaying impressive form, the less likely the Eagles may be for him to leave, and the more attractive he would be as an option for the FA.
