Glasgow Rangers are reportedly weighing up whether to make Martin Olsson an offer that would see him move to Ibrox this summer.

Rangers’ hopes of winning the race to sign Martin Olsson may have received a lift from the reports concerning former Gers star Alan Hutton’s next move this summer.
Swedish outlet Expressen suggested earlier this month that Steven Gerrard is one of the managers interested in signing Olsson ahead of next season, with the 31-year-old, like Hutton, currently a free agent.
But Rangers do reportedly not have a clear run to his signature, with Expressen claiming that Nottingham Forest are also in the race to sign the former Swansea City star.
However, The Sun’s suggestion that Forest are on the verge of landing Hutton may perhaps provide a boost to Rangers’ hopes of getting Olsson through the Ibrox door.

Hutton – who left Rangers for around £9 million back in 2008 (via BBC Sport) – is best known as a right-back, but he made almost as many appearances for Aston Villa this past season at left-back as the Villans went on to secure promotion, and it would be little surprise if his versatility is one of the key reasons why he finds himself on Martin O’Neill’s radar.
The Forest boss may well still be in the market for a left-back even if Hutton does head to the City Ground. But perhaps there is every chance that Forest landing Hutton would take one of Rangers’ reported rivals out of the running to sign Olsson.
