The identity of those tasked with making Sheffield Wednesday’s new kits may or may not have been revealed this evening [Tuesday].

Wednesday have yet to formally disclose any details about their strips for the coming campaign, which coincides with the club’s 150th anniversary.

However, chairman Dejphon Chansiri did state at April’s Steering Group meeting, as reported by The Wednesday Week, that the Owls would manufacture their own uniforms, with the home one being “all blue with white sleeves”, reflecting those worn between 1965 and 1972.

And while this could remain the case, Wednesday’s players sported Lacatoni track tops ahead of their pre-season opener against Alfreton Town, reverting to last season’s Sondico training wear to play in.

Interestingly, the Portuguese sports equipment manufacturer was co-founded by Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal, who lent the first two letters of his Christian name to form the middle part of the company label.

Established in 1988, while Carvalhal was still playing, Lacatoni also make kits for SC Braga, Paços de Ferreira and the Mozambique national football and hockey teams – among others.
