Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is likely to be busy this summer as he gets his side ready for their Premier League return.
The Magpies secured promotion from the Championship with time to spare, but despite having arguably the strongest side ever assembled in the second tier, they still need improvements.
One such area that Newcastle could look to strengthen is on the wing, but the return from injury of Rolando Aarons could yet save Benitez millions in the transfer market.
The 21-year-old has managed just five appearances this season due to a metatarsal fracture followed by an Achilles tendon injury. However if Newcastle can get him back to full fitness he could finally be ready to make up for lost time.
Aarons is widely regarded as one of Newcastle’s most exciting prospects and he is now at an age when he will be hoping to play regular first-team football.
He first needs to regain match fitness, but with a successful pre-season campaign he could prove to Benitez that he can fill the void on the wing left by the likely departure of loanee Christian Atsu.
Newcastle will spend plenty of money this summer, yet in Aarons they have a ready-made solution who, despite his recent setbacks, still has plenty to offer.
