West Ham United star Vladimir Coufal admits his team must ‘do the impossible’ to take any points at Newcastle United. The Hammers travel to St James’ Park come Saturday evening.
Newcastle play host to West Ham in a Premier League clash between two teams enduring very contrasting seasons. While the Toon sit third in the table through 20 games, the Irons are down in 16th. The Magpies are also unbeaten in their last 15 games back to August 31.
West Ham, on the other hand, snapped their seven-game winless run in the top-flight last time out by beating Everton. The result also lifted Coufal and co out of the relegation zone by just one point. But David Moyes’ side will now try to be the first side to win at St James’.

Through their 10 Premier League fixtures on home soil so far this term, Newcastle have six wins and four draws. Only Manchester City (28 points over 11 games) and Arsenal (25 over nine) have superior home records. West Ham are also one of the worst teams on the road.
Across their 10 top-flight matches away from home, West Ham have taken just five points from one win and two draws. AFC Bournemouth have also only claimed five points during 10 away games. While Leeds United have claimed five points but from nine fixtures so far.

West Ham star Coufal explains why Newcastle are so hard to beat this season
Now, Coufal believes West Ham must ‘do the impossible’ if they are to take any points out of Newcastle. The Magpies have impressed the 30-year-old with their performances under Eddie Howe this term. He has also now explained why the Toon have been so hard to beat.
“I think their biggest threat is they have become a really good team,” Coufal has told Sky Sports. “You can see they are fighting for each other. They are running everywhere [and] they try to press hard, especially at home.
“It’s going to be really tough at St James’ Park from the first minute, they will go right up to us. So, I expect a really tough game, with big intensity. We need to be ready for it and do the impossible to take some points there.”
West Ham won 4-2 in their last trip to Newcastle in August 2021 whilst Steve Bruce was in charge. But Howe has since axed or replaced Freddie Woodman, Federico Fernandez, Emil Krafth, Ciaran Clark, Isaac Hayden, Jacob Murphy, Matt Ritchie and Jonjo Shelvey in the XI.
