Fulham striker Bryan Ruiz starred in what was a special win for Costa Rica over Greece, where the game ended 1-1 and was decided on penalties.

Keylor Navas 8 – Had a really good game, was very brave and rushed attackers, but pushed the ball straight to Sokratis Papastathopoulos for the Greek goal. Great penalty save in the shootout.

Cristian Gamboa 7 – Did his best at right back for most of the game, but got over swamped by Greek players.

Oscar Duarte 5 – This man nearly cost his country the tie, and it was a silly second yellow to give away.

Giancarlo Gonzalez 7 – Took wave after wave from the Greece attack, which became increasingly harder after the Duarte red card.

Michael Umaña 6 – Did an average job at the back, but much like the rest of the defence struggled to cope with the mounting Greek pressure.

Júnior Díaz 6 – Struggled in that midfield and ended up watching most of the game.

Bryan Ruiz 7 – Fantastic finish from this man, and starting to prove all the doubters wrong.

Celso Borges 6 – Didn’t provide much in the way of attacking help and found it hard to cope in the midfield.

Yeltsin Tejeda 6 – Was missing a lot during the game and was a little out of depth.

Christian Bolaños 6 – Provided the assist for Costa Rica’s goal but other than that didn’t contribute a whole lot to the match.

Joel Campbell 7 – Absolutely ran his socks off all game and gave everything, he looked a very tired boy at the end.
