West Ham United and Newcastle United are now planning to bid for reported Leeds United target Maxwel Cornet, according to 90min.
What’s the story?
90min have reported that West Ham and Newcastle are planning late moves for Lyon left-back Cornet.
Burnley have already made an offer of £15 million for the Ivory Coast international left-back.
Hertha Berlin are also keen on signing the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window.
Leeds were interested in the left-back before they signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona this summer.
Olympique-et-lyonnais.com reported on July 5 that Leeds made an offer of €12 million (£10.27m) for the Ivory Coast international left-back, but Lyon turned it down.
A day later Marcelo Bielsa’s side signed Firpo from Barcelona.

Exciting transfer race
It remains to be seen if Burnley’s offer of £15 million for Cornet is accepted by Lyon or not.
The French club have signed Emerson Palmieri on loan from Chelsea, which suggests that they could be open to selling the 24-year-old.
West Ham and Newcastle will surely have to bid more than Burnley and/or offer better terms to Cornet.

The left-back scored two goals and gave five assists in 29 Ligue 1 starts for Lyon last season.
Leeds’s reported interest and bid for the left-back shows just how highly he is rated in the footballing community.
After all, Leeds head coach Bielsa and the club’s director of football, Victor Orta, do not tend to sign players who are not good.
