Speaking on the This is Anfield YouTube channel, Dirk Kuyt has been full of praise for Luis Diaz after his arrival at Liverpool.

The Colombian joined the Reds in January, and it’s fair to say that he’s hit the ground running since arriving from Porto.

It can often be hard to adjust to a new team and a new country, especially when you’re joining halfway through a season, but somehow, Diaz has managed to take to Liverpool like a duck to water, and Kuyt has been blown away by his ability to adapt.

Indeed, the Dutchman says that his ability to cope with his new surroundings has been special.

What’s been said?

Kuyt spoke about Diaz.

“Yeah, you can speak the language of football, and when you speak that language it’s pretty easy to understand. I’ve said before how important Diaz is for the team and how special it is that he’s coped so well since his arrival. It’s a new country, new culture, new team, new coach, so he’s had to learn the tactics, but he’s settled in very quickly,” Kuyt said.

So tough

Diaz has been incredible so far for Liverpool, but we mustn’t underestimate just how tough it is to do what he has done.

The winger has moved to a country where he doesn’t speak the language, to a team with one of the most competitive attacking units in the world and one of the most intense tactical set-ups, and he’s immediately shown himself to be a star.

Even some of the best players in the world have struggled to immediately adapt to this Liverpool team – just look at Thiago Alcantara last season, but Diaz has seemingly gotten to grips with Klopp’s style from day one.

The 25-year-old is already a star, but he may get even better.
