Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg has etched his name into NBA history.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Cooper Flagg, had a somewhat slow start to his rookie season in the league.
However, after 26 games under his belt, Flagg has surely announced his arrival in the NBA with a bang.

Cooper Flagg breaks LeBron James’ record and scores 40 points
Despite already being an important player for the Dallas Mavericks, let’s not forget that Flagg is still just 18 years old.
However, being that young hasn’t held back Flagg from developing his game at an alarming rate, which was on full display during the Mavericks’ 140-133 OT loss against the Jazz.
Flagg finished the night with 42 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists in 42 minutes of playing time. Although Flagg ended up on the losing side, the young forward broke one of LeBron James’ records.
After all, Flagg’s 42 points against the Jazz are now the highest number of points an 18-year-old has scored in the history of the NBA.
Cooper Flagg became the fifth fastest player in NBA history to score 40 points
Breaking James’ long-standing record is a phenomenal feat, but that’s not all, as the Mavericks star also added his name to a unique list.
Scoring 40 points after just 26 games has made Flagg the fifth-youngest player in league history to score as many points, per ExtraStats.
Only Wilt Chamberlain (1 game), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (7 games), Michael Jordan (9 games), and Oscar Robertson (14 games) were faster than the 18-year-old.
For context, Flagg took fewer games than the likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry to have the first 40-point game of his career.
