Bayer Leverkusen manager Gerardo Seoane has claimed that star attacker Moussa Diaby is likely to stay in Germany this window despite attempts from Newcastle United to sign the winger, with Arsenal also interested.

Speaking to the press via GGFN, the Bundesliga coach revealed that he is confident that the 22-year-old attacker will stay with Leverkusen despite reports last week that Newcastle made an offer to sign Diaby, with the Toon keen to sign the former PSG academy star this summer.

As well as Newcastle, Arsenal are also reportedly interested in Diaby, who is rumoured to be valued at just £40m this summer. However, Leverkusen are keen to keep hold of their prized asset, who last season bagged 17 goals as the German side qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

With Premier League interest high in Diaby, it would make sense to sell the France international now when money is there to be spent, however, Leverkusen are eager to keep their superstar speedster for at least one more season despite strong efforts from Newcastle to sign the forward.

Eddie Howe’s side are looking to bolster their attacking options next season, and Diaby could be an outstanding signing for the northeast Premier League side. However, for Seoane, he is determined to keep the 22-year-old at Leverkusen for the upcoming campaign.

Seoane said about Diaby’s future: “We know that things can happen in football that we cannot influence. But I’m convinced that Moussa will stay with us. Moussa is very happy here. He knows what he has at the club and gets the right appreciation from all of us. So I’m not worried that there’s something we don’t know about.”

Newcastle will have to push hard if they’re to sign Diaby

Diaby has been one of the Bundesliga’s top talents for the past two seasons, and with Newcastle intent on signing the winger this summer, the Toon will have to push hard if they’re to prize Leverkusen from their star attacker, more so now after Seoane’s latest comments.

Indeed, a quality wide-attacker with an end-product will be a huge coup for Newcastle this summer, and Diaby ticks a lot of boxes for what Howe wants from a new forward this summer. However, the club will have to do their best to land the Frenchman.
