Wolves secured one of the bargains of the summer last month when they signed Rui Patricio.

The Portugal number one was a controversial addition, signing after he terminated his own contract at Sporting.

Sporting are still unhappy with the situation, but from a football perspective they are moving on.

They have signed veteran goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano, for just two million Euros.

Viviano had a brief spell at Arsenal earlier in his career, and joins the Portuguese side from Sampdoria.

He knows that he faces a huge task to replace new Wolves signing Patricio, and is backing away from comparisons.

Speaking to MaisFutebol after making his debut in a 4-1 friendly win, Viviano praised his predecessor.

He said: “He is a great goalkeeper, so he showed for Sporting and also for Portugal.

“But he is Patricio and I am Viviano. And I have to do my best, I know it’s hard to do what the Patricio did, but I hope to do a good job.”

Patricio is currently on holiday after Portugal’s World Cup run to the last 16 and is due to report to training with Wolves before the end of the month.
