Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Emi Martinez, and Spurs could face the former Arsenal goalkeeper when they take on Aston Villa at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League this weekend.
Tottenham Hotspur target Emi Martinez back in Aston Villa training
Tottenham will lock horns with Villa in North London on New Year’s Day.
The Villans are on the up under manager Unai Emery, while Spurs are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table yet again under Conte.
Villa could have star goalkeeper Martinez back in action.
As you can see from the clip below posted on Villa’s official Twitter page this morning, the 30-year-old former Arsenal goalkeeper is back in training today.
Martinez was a star of the Argentina squad that won the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The 30-year-old was given time off after his success with Argentina.
And now he is back.
It remains to be seen if Villa manager Emery includes Martinez in his starting lineup against Tottenham.
Spurs have been linked with Martinez, which is quite controversial.
After all, Martinez is a former Arsenal goalkeeper who left the Gunners for the Villans in 2020.
The Villa star has also been courting controversy in recent days for mocking Paris Saint-Germain and France international forward Kylian Mbappe during Argentina celebrations.
Argentina beat France in the 2022 Qatar World Cup final.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Dean Jones told Give Me Sport this month that Martinez is among the goalkeepers that Tottenham are interested in signing and are keeping an eye on him.
