Tottenham Hotspur have surpassed Manchester United over the past three years.

Controversial BBC pundit Chris Sutton highlighted the huge gulf in class between Spurs and Man United, when speaking live on BBC Radio 5 Live last night, by suggesting that players would rather play for Mauricio Pochettino than Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham currently sit in second position in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of league leaders Chelsea with a game in hand, whilst the Red Devils are embroiled in a battle for the top four, and currently sit in fifth spot, one point adrift of fourth placed Manchester City.
And Sutton delivered his verdict on the two clubs, when speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, highlighting Spurs’ current project as ‘something special’:
“Tottenham have proven, over the last couple of seasons, they are better than Manchester United. Who would you rather play for? Would you rather go and play for Pochettino, or Mourinho? Tottenham are building something special under Pochettino. They don’t need to sell Alli, they don’t need to sell Kane.”

Mourinho has made United incredibly tough to beat since taking over in the summer, but his team lack the kind of pace and flair that Pochettino’s side have showcased on a consistent basis this season.
The three-time Champions League winners still possess a certain kind of pulling power, however, and have proven that with the Portuguese at the helm, they can still attract the world’s best players.
Tottenham, on the other hand, have always struggled to attract elite level players to the club, but that could very well change this summer, especially if they go on to lift the Premier League title.
