Ramon Vega has taken to Twitter to claim that Antonio Conte could find out that his “days are numbered” if his side’s form continues like this, after another disappointing performance saw Tottenham lose to Newcastle on Sunday.

Tottenham suffered a second successive defeat in the Premier League on Sunday. Following a 2-0 loss to Manchester United, Spurs played host to the impressive Newcastle. But they failed to dominate the game, eventually losing 2-1.

That is, despite Harry Kane netting his tenth Premier League goal of the season. Tottenham are missing the attacking options of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Cristian Romero were also sidelined.

Criticism is coming in the way of Conte for his pragmatic approach, despite Spurs still sitting in third place in the Premier League table. Spurs fans want to see more of an attacking style, and Vega thinks Conte could get the sack.

Vega: Conte days are numbered after Tottenham lose to Newcastle

Could Conte really be under pressure? Vega has forgotten that while Conte’s style is somewhat negative, it has taken Tottenham from being a side struggling to achieve for any kind of European football – to the Champions League.

Spurs still sit in third place. An impressive start to the campaign. They are top of their Champions League group. Yes, their performances have been poor in their last two games. But injuries have played their part.

Conte should not be worried about his job security and if anything, Tottenham should be doing everything within their power to keep the Italian on side. Forget a contract extension, Spurs need to be handing him an entirely new deal.

This upcoming week is important for Spurs – and gives them a real chance of winning two games on the bounce. A home clash against Sporting Lisbon, a game which could see them qualify for the knockouts. Then, Bournemouth.
