Oliver Skipp is nearing a return to fitness for Tottenham Hotspur.
Well, the Spurs midfielder is already fit enough to make Antonio Conte’s matchday squad, but he’s been an unused substitute in the Lilywhites’ last three Premier League outings.
It’s been a horrible calendar year for the Hotspur Way academy gem, who hasn’t played since January due to a number of separate injuries.
This recent absence is related to a freak training-ground incident which included a gruesome cut in his foot, according to Football London.

However, journalist Paul Brown has revealed to Give Me Sport that Conte is a ‘big fan’ of the 22-year-old and it’s only a matter of time before the former Norwich City loanee is unleashed in the first XI.
He said: “Conte is a big fan of Skipp; he’s played him a lot since he’s been there. He likes his drive, energy, and determination. I think he’s a player who does exactly what he’s told and fits the system quite well, because Conte knows he can rely on him.”
Skipp could have a difficult time breaking into the North Londoners starting lineup, though.
That’s because Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been exceptional under Conte in midfield this season, with Tottenham one of only two unbeaten Premier League outfits after seven games played.
However, it’ll be a long season for the Lilywhites and if the Italian manager is as fond of Skipp as the Daily Star journalist claims then it won’t be long before the youngster is seriously pushing one of Bentancur or Hojbjerg.
