Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he knows about Antonio Conte and his mindset at Spurs.
The Italian isn’t having the easiest of times at Tottenham. Spurs have now lost five of their last seven games, they’re out of every competition and it looks like they won’t be finishing in the top four either.
Just a few months after arriving at Spurs, there’s already talk of Conte leaving the north London club, but according to Romano, he’s quite happy at Spurs.
However, the journalist claims that Spurs need to back him in the transfer market, start their planning early and show a winning mentality in the transfer window in order to keep the manager on board.
What’s been said?
Romano shared what he knows about Conte.
“First of all, we know Antonio, after the Burnley game I saw many English fans and journalists saying that he will resign and leave the club, I understand that approach, this is normal football, but as Italians, we know how Antonio works,” Romano said.
“These are messages to the board, not to the players. I am told that Antonio is happy with the players and their approach, he’s not blaming the players. He wants the board to react, to plan the future now in February, March and April, not in August.
“He is happy with Tottenham life, but he wants the team to improve and sign new players, that’s why he’s sending messages now. Conte will stay at Tottenham if they will confirm to him that they will build him something important and sign important players, showing a winning mentality, not only on the pitch, but in the market as well.”

Start now
Spurs need to already be on the hunt for new signing for the summer.
Something clearly isn’t right at the club at the moment, and the only way to fix that is to have a serious overhaul in the transfer window.
They have one of the best managers in the world in charge, and now, they need to show him that they’re serious about being major competitors in Europe.
Spurs need to keep Conte, and in order to make sure he stays, they must show a bit of willing in the market.
