Back in March, Antonio Conte did something no other Tottenham manager has done before, after Oliver Skipp suffered a setback in his recovery.
The Italian called on Tottenham’s medical department to hold a press conference, to explain why the 21-year-old’s return to action has been delayed.
As quoted by the Guardian, he said: “In England, I think that sometimes you should have a conference with the medical department. It is too easy for the doctors to work here because they don’t speak, they don’t explain what happens, you understand?”
Now, as we approach the middle of April, Skipp still isn’t back.
What’s the story?
Well, the latest update on the England Under-21 international is this.
According to PA Sport journalist Jonathan Veal, the medical department have a certain date they’d like Skipp to be training by, and if he isn’t ready by then, they will write off the season for him.

Now, just a few days ago, Conte said that it wasn’t an option for the youngster to miss the remainder of the season, and he is determined to get him back (Football London).
So, if the medical department – who never did hold that press conference – tell the 52-year-old he can’t have his No.29 back this term, he will presumably be livid.
Tottenham should let Oliver Skipp rest
As desperate as Conte is to have Skipp back, we feel Spurs have to let him rest and recover properly.
The midfielder’s injury is related to a problem with his pubis symphysis, a joint in the pelvic area, usually caused by heavy workload according to Football London.

They add that Skipp has played 85 matches in two seasons, which is quite a lot for a 21-year-old to deal with.
Therefore, it is important that Tottenham let him recover properly at Hotspur Way, so Conte can use him regularly next season.
