Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte wants Arsenal transfer target Djed Spence to replace Emerson Royal, according to The Sun.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Tottenham boss Conte has made Spence, on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough, ‘his prime target’ to replace Emerson at right wing-back.
Middlesbrough reportedly value the 21-year-old right-back at £15 million.
The Sun have added that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are also keen on signing Spence.
Tottenham paid Barcelona £25.73 million for Emerson in the summer of 2021 (Sky Sports).

Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur for Djed Spence?
In our view, Djed Spence would be better off at Tottenham Hotspur than at Arsenal if he is to leave Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window.
Now, of course, the 21-year-old may want to stay at Nottingham Forest if the Reds win promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs.
However, if it is a direct choice between Arsenal and Tottenham, then, in our opinion, the right-back should pick Spurs.
Arsenal have an established right-back in Takehiro Tomiyasu, which means that Spence would play second fiddle to the Japan international at the Emirates Stadium.
Based on the report in The Sun, it seems that Conte wants the Middlesbrough-owned right-back to be his first-choice right wing-back straightaway.
