Antonio Conte thinks the ‘world-class’ Tottenham striker Harry Kane can actually become ‘better and better’, as he told his pre-match press conference.

The Tottenham boss shared that Kane is showing ‘great desire’ in his game and ‘ready to speak about football’.

For large parts of the season, Kane has struggled in front of goal and the Premier League’s top goal scorer and assister maker from the last campaign has been nowhere to be seen.

But, under Conte, the England captain has started to showcase his old self, including at home to Brighton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

It was perhaps his best performance under Conte and his best display of the campaign as a whole.

And ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League game against Southampton tonight, this is what Conte had to say about his player.

“He shows great desire, always ready to speak about football,” said Conte. “He is ready to improve, and also to see new tactical situations.

“We are talking about a world-class striker. I’m trying to help him become better and better. Me, my staff, on the physical aspect.”

Spurs are just hovering outside of the Champions League places and they are in such a situation when Kane hasn’t been at his best.

So, if he leaves his best form until the second half of the campaign, then it bodes well for those in north London.

Plus, it also needs to be remembered that Conte’s side also have a number of games in hand.

It is pretty difficult to gauge how this top-four race is going because of the indifferent games teams have played, but Spurs will feel that the ball is in their court.
