Antonio Conte has acknowledged that Son Heung-min is in poor form for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

With just 3 Premier League goals to his name, Son is undoubtedly having an underwhelming campaign by his lofty standards.

Just last term, the South Korean captain was the joint-Golden Boot winner, alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in the league with an impressive 23 goals for Conte and Co.

Over the past couple of years as well, the topsy-turvy nature of Tottenham as a whole has rarely ever halted Son Heung-min from being one of the most feared wingers in Europe.

However, the 2022/2023 season has coincided with Son being miles off it from start to finish.

Worryingly, it is not just the £192,000-a-week forward’s productivity that has seen a decline, with him also registering just 2 league assists.

The Tottenham legend’s overall displays have been disappointing, especially in terms of his link-up play and dribbling.

The fact that Son is not even getting into dangerous areas anymore, which he certainly did for Conte last season is a bit of concern.

Speaking ahead of his side’s upcoming clash against Crystal Palace, Antonio Conte has admitted that Tottenham winger Son Heung-min is not in form.

“Son [Heung-min] for sure is struggling to find the best form and after the injury he had for Marseille, he struggled a bit.”

“Also, the World Cup, he didn’t score but we are talking about a player, that if we put him in discussion, we are in trouble because Sonny and [Harry] Kane are the two most important players, with [Hugo] Lloris.”

“If we have doubts about them, we are in trouble”, Conte told Football.London’s Alasdair Gold.

Son needs to find his feet as soon as possible

As Antonio Conte has acknowledged, Son is easily one of, if not the most vital player at Tottenham Hotspur.

And with the club being in dire straits since returning from the World Cup, the 30-year-old must rediscover his best form to ensure the club secure Champions League qualification and potentially even win a trophy.

17 games into the Premier League season, it is worrying to see how Son Heung-min does not even look remotely close to the frightening player he is renowned as being.
