Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Lucas Moura is in a lot of pain ahead of the match against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this weekend.

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur will lock horns with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

Brazil international winger Lucas has had injury problems this season and has not always been available for Tottenham.

The £23 million (BBC Sport) has made six substitute appearances in the Premier League, and has made two starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League for Spurs so far this campaign.

Lucas has already spoken about how he has been playing with pain following an injury to his tendon earlier in the season.

And ahead of the Premier League game against Liverpool on Sunday, Tottenham boss Conte has said that the 30-year-old was in a lot of pain today, suggesting that he may not be able to play against the Reds.

Conte said: “The problem with Lucas Moura is having different faces for his pain. Today it was really bad and they said he was really worried for this. I asked him to try to be available.”

Worrying

In our view, Lucas Moura’s pain today is really worrying, and we think that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte may not be able to play him against Liverpool.

Now, of course, the match is on Sunday, so things could settle down between now and then, and Lucas may not feel as much pain as he did today in two days’ time.

However, it would make sense if Conte prepares for the match against Liverpool on the presumption that Lucas will not be available.
