We need to begin speaking about Hugo Lloris at Tottenham Hotspur.
Between the time of Mauricio Pochettino’s departure and end of last season, the France international had probably been second to Harry Kane in a list of most reliable Spurs players.
But this season, the 35-year-old is looking increasingly unreliable and Antonio Conte has a decision to make.
Lloris made not one, but two costly mistakes on Sunday as Newcastle United earned a 2-1 win in North London.
Bear in mind it had only been a couple of weeks since his last mistake when he cost Tottenham a goal in their 3-1 defeat at Arsenal.
The veteran French goalkeeper is forcing Conte’s hand to some extent and the Italian manager might be finally set to unleash Fraser Forster.
Forster joined the Lilywhites on a free transfer this past summer but is yet to play a single minute in any competition.
Conte’s side are home to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Wednesday and honestly, swapping Lloris for the former Southampton stopper might not be such a bad idea.
Confidence is absolutely massive for a goalkeeper and it goes without saying that at the moment, Lloris’s levels have to be depleted in an enormous way.
Remember, Forster was labelled ‘exceptional’ by Mikel Arteta toward the end of last season [Arsenal official website].
Despite being second in command, this is a very capable goalkeeper and don’t be surprised if Conte turns to him next week.
