Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly on the lookout for a new manager as Antonio Conte’s future appears more and more uncertain.

The Spurs head coach may have ruffled a few feathers too many with his explosive post-match comments last weekend.

One manager whose name has been doing the rounds as a potential replacement is Thomas Tuchel.

The 49-year-old is one of the best managers in world football, having won the Best Coach award in 2021.

Tuchel took Chelsea to Champions League glory just months after joining the club that year.

Ilkay Gundogan listed the former Blues boss as one of “the best coaches in club football” alongside Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.

Earlier this week, ESPN journalist James Olley claimed there was a real possibility he could join Spurs.

However, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has now reported that Tottenham’s hierarchy isn’t too keen on Tuchel.

Apparently, they don’t see him as quite the right fit for Spurs.

And in wake of Conte’s interview last weekend, the Tottenham board is especially keen to land the right personality.

Jacobs wrote on CaughtOffside on Substack: “My understanding has always been Thomas Tuchel is not a leading candidate.

“He is obviously a top coach, but not seen as quite the right fit by the senior leadership team at Spurs.

“And after Conte’s outbursts, finding the right type of personality, not just coach, may well prove important.”

Levy looking for a change in direction?

In a way, the current Tottenham boss may have stopped Tuchel from replacing him at N17.

The former Chelsea boss can be a bit of a livewire, just like Conte.

And by the sounds of it, Daniel Levy is after someone a bit less prone to dramatic incidents in and around the dugout, or in the press conference room.

It’s a shame because Tuchel is a world-class manager, and he’s available at present.

Nonetheless, with Bayern Munich sacking Julian Nagelsmann, they may well get first dibs on Tuchel now.
