Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Fabrizio Romano revealed that Clement Lenglet is close to joining Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, the reliable Italian believes Barcelona and Spurs have agreed a loan deal for the France international, who has already shaken hands with the north Londoners on personal terms.
It comes after Antonio Conte managed to convince the Frenchman to join him in the Premier League.
It is now only a “matter of time” until Lenglet joins Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison at Hotspur Way, and Lineker has been very impressed by Tottenham’s business in the market.

We can’t help but agree.
Spurs have rarely been this predatory in the market, pinching both Brighton and Everton’s best players as they look to win their first silverware since 2008.
Clearly, Daniel Levy wants to give Conte the very best chance of success in N17, which should encourage Tottenham fans. For too long, it has felt like the 60-year-old has no ambition in his role as chairman.
Now, however, with Director of Football Fabio Paratici also at the helm – a man with many contacts – it seems there is a structure in place to bring genuine stars to Tottenham, and also the right manager to utilise their talent.
What Clement Lenglet will bring to Tottenham
We may be wrong, but we’re expecting Lenglet to line up on the left of a three-man backline alongside Cristian Romero and Eric Dier, with wing-backs pushing on.
Conte had little choice but to use Ben Davies as a centre-back last season, and while the Welshman did well, it seems as if Spurs have been searching for an upgrade in that area.
Lenglet is a fine passer of the ball, who should be able to start many counter attacks for the north Londoners next season.
If all goes well, Tottenham also have an option to buy the 27-year-old on a permanent basis next summer.
