Tottenham Hotspur manager and Jose Mourinho aren’t the best of friends in football.
When Mourinho was Manchester United manager and Conte at Chelsea, the rivals not only exchanged barbs through press conferences, but also on the touchline.
However, the two have something in common and it isn’t limited to the fact that they have both managed Tottenham
The duo share a belief that Oliver Skipp is a gem of a young footballer.
Football London reported on Saturday that the Italian coach secretly believes that the 21-year-old could develop into a world-class midfield player.
Skipp is injured at the moment but he has impressed in a major way under Conte already.
Mourinho loaned him to Norwich City for the entire 2020-21 campaign, but the former Lilywhites coach was a big fan nonetheless.
In July of 2020, the Portuguese coach, who was sacked by the North Londoners 10 months ago, said to The Times: “I think he’s genuinely Tottenham’s future. He’s one of these players by human quality, by personality, he is one of these kids that I have no doubt he will be an important player for Tottenham. I think he can be more than a player, he can be a future captain here.”
With the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur now at Tottenham, it’ll be a little more difficult for Skipp to shine on a regular basis once he returns from injury.
However, if he’s as good as Conte and Mourinho believe him to be, then there’s nothing that can stop the player from becoming a massive midfielder not only in North London, but football in general.
