Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are now set to be disappointed in their quest to sign Anthony Gordon, with The Telegraph reporting that the Everton winger and Chelsea target will sign a new contract with the Toffees.

Tottenham target Anthony Gordon to sign new Everton contract

The Telegraph are reporting today that Gordon, linked with Tottenham and Chelsea, is close to putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Everton.

The Merseyside club are in the process of finalising the deal and could make the announcement shortly, according to the report.

Chelsea and Tottenham have been credited with interest in the 21-year-old winger in the report.

Earlier this month, journalist Paul Brown told Give Me Sport that Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte “sees something special” in Gordon and wants him at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Sun reported in November that Tottenham had already made enquiries over signing the winger in the January transfer window.

Not a surprise

In our opinion, it is not a surprise that Tottenham Hotspur will fail to sign Anthony Gordon from Premier League rivals Everton in the January transfer window.

The Toffees are not having the best of times at the moment, and manager Frank Lampard was never going to let go out of his best and most dynamic players in the middle of the season.

Gordon –  described as “a player who is very explosive” by former Everton manager Rafael Benitez in The Liverpool Echo in October 2021 – has made 11 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Toffees so far this season, scoring three goals in the process.
