Bryan Gil is the subject of a growing amount of transfer speculation with regards to a move away from Tottenham Hotspur.
L’Equipe in France reported during the weekend that Nice manager Christophe Galtier was interested in bringing him to Ligue 1.
Gil has only managed 84 minutes of Premier League since football since joining from Sevilla in a £21.6 million deal last summer.
Whether it has been under Nuno Espirito Santo or current Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, the Spanish winger has struggled to impress either – or so it would seem.
However, there’s another transfer which could potentially interest Gil.
Having dazzled in Spain, he is clearly comfortable playing football over there and Marca have reported that Valencia have now made contact about signing the 20-year-old attacker.
It would be an initial loan agreement with a view toward buying him this summer, the Spanish publication has reported.
Should he go?
Honestly, yes.
The truth is that he isn’t going to play for Tottenham between now and the end of the campaign, meaning he’ll have effectively wasted a full year of his career.
Marca added in the same report that Conte will only allow Gil to leave North London if Giovanni Lo Celso and Dele Alli wind up staying put.
However, the fact that the Italian manager is seemingly okay with him going is testament to his struggles in N17.
There’s certainly a player in there somewhere and, in the right setting, he could be immense.
But the truth is that for now, English football doesn’t suit him and if Gil accepts a loan to Valencia, and a return to Spain, it might possibly indicate that the lad doesn’t really want to give the Premier League another bash.
