Some Liverpool fans on social media have been praising Georginio Wijnaldum after their 1-0 loss to Southampton on Monday night.
The Reds didn’t have much to shout about as they were overcome by the Saints, and as you can imagine, social media was mainly filled with frustrated Liverpool supporters after a disappointing result.
However, there were a few players who supporters were quite happy with, and Wijnaldum was certainly one of those.
The main takeaway from the game was the performance of Liverpool’s midfielders, Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got rare starts, while Jordan Henderson was played out of position as a centre-back.
Unfortunately, the aforementioned trio weren’t quite up to scratch against the Saints, struggling to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, but Wijnaldum was dependable as ever in the middle of the park, earning plaudits from the fanbase.
One supporter even said that he is better than Thiago, which is incredibly high praise for the Dutchman considering the Spaniard made it into FIFPro World XI this year.
