Frank Lampard is expected to take over Premier League strugglers Norwich City but Simon Jordan believes he should be in the running to replace Steven Gerrard at Rangers instead, speaking to talkSPORT (12 November, 10.30pm).
They just can’t escape each other, can they?
After spending the best part of two decades competing for the same honours at club level, those long-standing England teammates could soon be reunited on the Premier League touchline.
On 14 December, Gerrard and Lampard could shake hands on the Carrow Road touchline – if Norwich hand the reins to the Chelsea legend following talks this week.
According to Sky Sports, Lampard is one of the front-runners to succeed Daniel Farke at Carrow Road, alongside former Aston Villa boss Dean Smith and Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knudsen.
Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, however, feels another job in the UK should carry a lot more appeal than the one in East Anglia.
Will Rangers consider Frank Lampard as Steven Gerrard replacement?
“You never want to follow one of your peers unless you’re going to do it better. And if you’re gonna do it better with Rangers (that would be saying) ‘I’m gonna whack you in the Champions League group stages and deliver £40 million income’, which (Lampard) has the opportunity to do,” says Jordan.
“Rangers are a big club with a big platform. It’s a big job. I think Lampard could go to Rangers and do a very good job there.

“He can never build a management legacy at Norwich because, whatever he does at Norwich, he’s gonna be given a certain amount of budget. Frank will be operating at the bottom end of the Premier League, which will put him in a category of operating at the bottom end.
“(Sean Dyche has done it) and he can’t get a move. He’s stuck at Burnley.”
When asked what advice he would give to Lampard as the 43-year-old weighs up his next move ten months after being replaced by Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, Jordan made his stance clear.
“Give due consideration to Rangers if they’re in for you,” he said.
As things stand, Rangers appear to be prioritising a coach with a proven track record in Scottish football with Derek McInnes, Alex Neil and Callum Davidson among those linked.
