Conor Washington has scored just three goals in 32 appearances for Queens Park Rangers.
Conor Washington has admitted to Get West London that he has found it tough at Queens Park Rangers since signing last January.
QPR snapped up Washington from Peterborough United 11 months ago, after the striker hit a brilliant run of form at League One level.
Washington netted 15 goals in his last 16 games for Posh, but he has struggled to score as regularly since moving to Loftus Road.
The 24-year-old forward scored just two goals in his first 31 appearances for Rangers, and he was forced to play out of position as a winger during Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s time in charge at QPR.
However, Washington was played as a striker in Ian Holloway’s first game in charge of QPR on Saturday and he rewarded his manager’s faith.
Washington scored Rangers’ opening goal as they secured an impressive 2-1 win over Norwich City.
And the Northern Ireland international is hoping that he can now push on and become a prolific scorer at Championship level.
“It’s been tough since I’ve been here,” he said. “So, it was nice to play in a two-up front, which is good for me.
“Seb (Polter) is really good to play off and I think the little and large combination works.
“He [Holloway] wants to score goals. He wants to score one more than the other team, which is exactly the sort of attitude you want to hear as a striker.”
QPR are next in action on Saturday when they take on Ipswich Town, and Washington looks likely to retain his place in the starting line-up for the match at Portman Road.
