New Leeds United signing Conor Shaughnessy has been speaking to the club’s official television station following his contract offer at Elland Road.

The 20-year-old recently agreed a one-year deal with the Whites after impressing on trial and he will now be hoping to make an impact at under-23 level before potentially breaking into Garry Monk’s first-team further down the line.

When asked about his move, Shaughnessy told LUTV, ““It’s been great so far; the lads have been really welcoming and the training ground is unbelievable so I’m really happy.

“In pre-season I was picked up by one of the scouts and invited to train and play a couple of games and they went well. They asked me to stay a little bit longer and I got offered a deal here.”

Leeds have had a busy summer, waving goodbye to a few players and bringing in plenty of reinforcements.

However, many of their fans feel Monk’s senior squad is still weak in key areas and it will be interesting to see if he moves for any more free agents in the coming weeks.

For now it is up to the players already on the club’s books to get over a shaky start and ensure Leeds are pushing for promotion in the weeks and months ahead.

As for Shaughnessy, his career is only just beginning…
