Joe Shaughnessy is a defender at St Johnstone.
This summer saw Leeds United add to their development squad with the capture of Conor Shaughnessy on a free transfer.
The Irishman had been released by Reading in the summer but went on to impress during a trial spell with Leeds. With that in mind, he was handed a one-year deal by Leeds in the summer and joined up with the development squad.

Not much was known about the young midfielder but it soon emerged that the Galway lad had a brother who also plays professionally. Joe Shaughnessy is defender for Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone, after joining the club from Aberdeen in 2015.
He has been speaking to the press in Scotland this week about his brother and admitted that Conor’s aim was to be in the Leeds first-team by the end of the season. He told The Courier:
“After four years at Reading he moved to Leeds in the summer.
“He’s a central midfielder but at 6ft 4in he towers over me. He is a good player and he’s looking to break into the first team this season.”

The 20-year-old has a battle on his hands to get regular football at Leeds in his favoured central midfield position.
It is an area of the field in which Leeds are already very strong and the likes of Luke Murphy and Toumani Diagouraga, two experienced pros, cannot get a game in that part of the pitch.
Shaughnessy will be hoping he can prove himself worthy of the Leeds first-team.
