Conor McGregor has been back in MMA training, but it has not done much to convince fans that he is ready for a serious UFC comeback.

McGregor’s last fight happened more than four years ago, in July 2021 at UFC 264. That bout ended abruptly after he broke his leg during the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

His only win in the past nine years remains the victory over Donald Cerrone in 2020. He had also taken a knockout loss to Poirier earlier that same year. There were plans to return to fighting in 2024, but those were put on hold after he broke his toe during training.

Despite all that, ‘The Notorious’ recently raised some eyebrows again by showing support for Donald Trump’s proposed UFC event at the White House in 2026.

McGregor had been pushing for a spot on next year’s July 4 card, and he took a step in that direction by re-entering the UFC drug-testing pool.

Even so, most of his attention seems to have stayed on his business ventures and political ambitions back in Ireland. Still, McGregor has started sharing training clips online again.

The latest surfaced over the weekend through his Instagram Stories and quickly made its rounds on social media.

Cris Cyborg, the former UFC champion considered one of the greatest female fighters ever, was among those who found it funny.

Fans react with scepticism to Conor McGregor’s UFC comeback training footage

It did not take long for fans to weigh in on McGregor’s latest training video.

Many echoed Cyborg’s reaction, with some calling for him to stay retired and others predicting another defeat if he chooses to return.

“Bro looks so bad now, just stay retired.”

“He will never come back!”

“He’s gonna get KO’d first round.”

“So bad and slow and just weird. Stay retired ’cause you’re gonna get knocked out in round 1. Face it man, it’s over.”

“Slowly turning into Chuck Liddell before retirement.”

Not everyone is against the idea of a return though, with a few fans suggesting potential opponents who might make sense at this stage of his career.

“(Michael) Chandler or (Nate) Diaz would be a good fight for him.”

“Him vs Donald Cerrone 2 would be a good matchup now, both hopping off gear back in the testing pool.”
