Conor McGregor is not going to let the UFC president’s remarks prevent his return.

The former two-division champion has consistently named Michael Chandler as the opponent that he wants to face as he targets his first fight since 2021.

The pair were originally set to headline UFC 303, but an injury forced McGregor out of that bout, leaving plenty of unfinished business between them.

Everything seemed to be moving in that direction, especially with talk of tying it into a planned UFC event at the White House in June.

But Dana White threw cold water on those plans, dismissing the bout by saying it feels like a fight whose time has already passed.

Chandler has spent a lot of time talking about the possibility of finally sharing the Octagon with McGregor, and there was a time when it looked like the fight might actually happen.

The match-up lost steam after both men finished coaching against each other on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ without facing off in the cage. That added to doubts that it would ever materialise, even as talk persisted.

There have been more options floated for McGregor’s next move, and White now seems ready to look beyond Chandler and focus on something new.

The Irishman did not push back too hard against White’s comments when he addressed them in a post on social media. Instead, he downplayed any concern over who might be waiting for him inside the Octagon.

“Pick who ya want! The Mac sweats nothin and nobody. I’m TASTY SHOTS,” he posted on X.

Conor McGregor’s response is exactly why Dana White wants him back for the White House

White has fielded plenty of questions about who might feature on the UFC’s upcoming event at the White House.

The UFC president has consistently pointed to McGregor’s track record, noting how he has delivered in big moments throughout his career.

His willingness to face whoever the UFC puts in front of him only strengthens that trust, showing again why he remains one of the organisation’s most dependable names.

Despite missing UFC 303 due to a toe injury, ‘The Notorious’ has consistently shown up for the promotion over the years and stayed ready for whatever challenge came next.
