Conor Hourihane has suggested that John Terry has already had a positive impact on the Aston Villa squad.

Conor Hourihane has suggested that he sensed during Aston Villa’s pre-season trip to Portugal that the signing of John Terry has already had a positive impact on the squad, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Villa pulled off what would have arguably seemed before the window one of the most surprising deals of the summer when they managed to bring the five-time Premier League winner and former England captain to Villa Park ahead of their second consecutive season in the Championship.

And Hourihane has suggested that the Villans can now boast the best player in the division, and added that the squad has certainly been lifted by his arrival.

“Obviously with JT coming in, you couldn’t get any better for this level,” he said, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

“It will give everyone a boost. It looked like it did, that was the case in Portugal.”

It is not a surprise that Terry’s arrival is having a positive impact on the squad – despite the fact that the 36-year-old is arguably well into the twilight of his career.

The move undoubtedly shows a tremendous amount of ambition from Villa as it would not be a surprise at all if he had a number of more lucrative offers from elsewhere on the table.

And given what he has achieved during his career, Terry will surely be able to help instil that winning mentality that may boost a number of players’ careers for years to come.
