Conor Hourihane has struggled for playing time at Aston Villa so far this season.

Hourihane has struggled for regular playing time for Villa so far this season following the signing of Scotland international midfielder John McGinn from Scottish Premiership club Hibernian in the summer transfer window.
The former Sunderland prospect – who joined Villa from Barnsley in January 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Irish Examiner to be worth £3 million – has made just one start and has played a total of 211 minutes of Championship football so far this season, according to WhoScored.
During the 2017-18 campaign, the 27-year-old midfielder scored 11 goals and provided two assists in 43 Championship starts for the Villans, according to WhoScored.
Hourihane has admitted that he is disappointed with his lack of playing time at Villa at the moment.

“It’s been hugely disappointing for me,” Hourihane told The Express & Star. “Last year I felt I had a good year.
“I feel I have been left out of it a little this year and it is hugely disappointing. I kept my head down and working hard and you get the rewards in the end.”
Important player
Despite his lack of playing time, Hourihane remains an important player for Villa, as the Republic of Ireland international showed with his late goal against Blackburn Rovers away from home at Ewood Park in the Championship this past weekend.
The former Barnsley midfielder will be an important player for Villa as the season progresses.
