Conor Hourihane was just one of a number of players to congratulate Aston Villa’s, Matty Cash, for reaching the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Poland.

The Villa midfielder, who is out on-loan at Sheffield United, posted ‘well done lad’ on Cash’s Instagram post.

Tyrone Mings also added in the comments section ‘Cash man, congrats mate’, whilst his former Nottingham Forest teammate, Zac Clough, called it ‘incredible’.

Cash made a brave call last year to swap allegiances and opt to represent Poland instead of England.

It’s a move that has paid off for Villa’s £16 million man (Sky Sports) because he can now tell his Grandkids that he was able to play on the biggest stage of them all.

Whilst Villa have had an indifferent season, Cash has been outstanding on that right flank, motoring up and down like he has a Ferrari engine attached to him.

Not many would have expected it, but Cash has gone from being an attacker in the colours of his boyhood club, Nottingham Forest.

Now looking to burst up and down the flank in Qatar and feed balls to one of the best strikers in the world, Robert Lewandowski.

But, before then, he has to do the business for Villa, including ending this current campaign in a strong fashion, as he has a big chance of winning the club’s Player of the Season.

The start of the next campaign, before the World Cup kicks in November, will also be key as Steven Gerrard aims to push Villa towards Europe.
