Hourihane joined Villa on a three-and-a-half-year deal on Thursday to become their fifth signing of the month, after goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, fellow midfielders Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason, and his Tykes teammate James Bree.
The Barnsley captain had been linked with a move to Villa over the last few weeks, and a deal was finally worked out to bring the 25-year-old to Villa Park.
Hourihane was always a popular target with Villa fans, and they will be delighted to have sealed the signing of the former Republic of Ireland youth international.
On Thursday afternoon, after sealing his move to B6, Hourihane took to Twitter to voice his delight.
He was then welcomed to the club by his compatriot and Villa legend Paul McGrath.
Hourihane responded to the former hero by suggesting that if he can have anywhere near the success McGrath enjoyed at Villa, he will have done well.
With Hourihane the third midfielder to arrive at Villa in the last weeks, supporters will be excited to see how their side lines up in their next match, a trip to Brentford next Tuesday.
