Conor Hourihane took to Twitter to comment after he scored his first goal for Aston Villa during their win over Bristol City on Tuesday night.

The Villans moved themselves up to 15th in the table as they secured an important 2-0 victory over the Robins at Villa Park that gave them a much more comfortable cushion to the Championship’s bottom three.

It was also an important night for Hourihane, who finally gave supporters a glimpse of what he is capable of as he found the back of the net shortly before the hour-mark – and just five minutes after Jonathan Kodjia had given Steve Bruce’s men the lead – to bag his first goal since his January move from Barnsley.

The close-range finish would have surely lifted a weight off of Hourihane’s shoulders, given that supporters were starting to question whether he was that good a January signing after all, as despite previously being the Tykes’ talisman and easily their most creative player, he was yet to register a goal or assist for his new club before the game.

And while it was not necessarily a thing of beauty, Villa fans will be hoping that it gives him the boost he needs to start finding the form that made him one of the division’s hottest properties while he was at Oakwell.

As mentioned, following the contest, the Irishman took to social media to comment on another victory for the side, before speaking about an important moment for him personally.
