Newcastle United have discussed with Chelsea a loan deal for Conor Gallagher, with Crystal Palace also interested in the midfielder, according to The Northern Echo.
What’s the story?
It is being reported today that Newcastle manager Steve Bruce is hopeful of Gallagher joining the Magpies on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea this summer.
Bruce held talks over the midfielder last summer, but he moved to West Bromwich Albion instead.
Newcastle have now told Chelsea that they want to sign Gallagher on loan this summer and talks are taking place.
Palace also want the English youngster, but Bruce is hopeful of pushing a deal through.

Good signing for Newcastle United?
Gallagher is a very good and promising young midfielder who can drive the team forward and can hold his own in the middle of the park.
Then West Brom manager Slaven Bilic described the Chelsea youngster as “dynamic” in September 2020, as quoted in The Express & Star.
The England Under-21 international scored two goals and gave two assists in 30 Premier League games for the Baggies last season.
Gallagher could just replace Joe Willock in the Newcastle team.
Willock spent the second half of last season loan at Newcastle from Arsenal, and it remains to be seen if the Magpies are able to bring him back.
