Conor Coady has told the Express and Star that he stressed to his Wolverhampton Wanderers teammates that they needed to pick up a result at West Ham United, otherwise their draw over Manchester City would go to waste.

Coady wears the captain’s armband for Wolves, and he was keen to ensure that nobody in the dressing room at the London Stadium was resting on their laurels.

Wolves had picked up a very impressive point against City the week before they took on West Ham.

But they showed no signs of complacency at the London Stadium, as they put in an excellent performance to pick up the three points.

And Coady said: “I said to the boys before the game we’d only make the Man City point a good one if we could back it up at West Ham.

“We played some fantastic stuff, controlled the play and limited them to a few chances and obviously Rui made a fantastic save.

“There’s a lot of improvement to do.

“That’s why we play football, for those celebrations and the 30 seconds of madness after the goal.

“It’s special for everyone. The performance as a whole was the most pleasing thing.”

Wolves appear to have quickly adapted to playing football at Premier League level, after an encouraging start to the campaign.

Nuno’s side have been in fine form so far this season, with only one defeat to their name so far.

Wolves’ win over West Ham was confirmed when Adama Traore lashed the ball home in the last minute.

Wolves are next in action in two weeks’ time, when they take on Burnley at Molineux.
