Conor Coady has claimed Leeds United are “probably” the best team in the Premier League when it comes to reacting after losing possession – telling BT Sport (as per BBC) that the Whites are “incredible” and a “real transition” team.

Leeds failed to build on their second-half dominance against Everton on Tuesday night. The two sides played out an enthralling draw, with the first half proving to be a close-fought encounter. Anthony Gordon put his side 1-0 up.

But after the break, Leeds were much better. More intense, more effective in Everton’s half. They scored through Luis Sinisterra and came close to a second from Joe Gelhardt, on two occasions. However, the scoreline remained 1-1.

Speaking about Leeds after the full-time whistle, on-loan Everton defender Coady was full of praise for Leeds. He claims they are the best team in the Premier League when reacting to lost possession. Everton had to make it difficult.

“They are areal transition team. The reaction to losing the ball is incredible. They are probably the best team at doing that in the league. You have to take that away from them,” Coady said, speaking to BT Sport after the full-time whistle.

It is high praise from the Everton defender. But it is also a sign that Marsch is having a real imprint on the Leeds side. Yes, the press obviously comes from the blueprint set out by Marcelo Bielsa. But Leeds have had to change that.

They have had to adapt from going man to man, to pressing as a team and reducing the space. It is now a team press, rather than a 1v1 press. Eight points from five, including some tricky fixtures, is a sign Leeds have done that well, so far.

Next up for Leeds is a trip to Brentford. The same fixture in which Leeds won a third-consecutive season in the Premier League. Hopefully for Leeds and Marsch, those fond memories of last May will kick in come Saturday afternoon.
