Leeds United have been pro-active on either side of Kalvin Phillips leaving the club, with Luis Sinisterra being the latest new face to walk through their doors.

All of Leeds’ signings so far have come from abroad, but there is one player that is being looked at that thrived in Sheffield United colours last season – Morgan Gibbs-White.

The 22-year-old was on-loan at Bramall Lane last season from Wolves and he left an impression to the point that the £20 million star is a wanted man by the likes of Leeds, Crystal Palace and Everton.

This time last summer, Gibbs-White’s club captain, Conor Coady, was bigging up the player, his character and the talent he has in his locker, whilst speaking to the Express and Star.

The England defender shared how the attack-minded midfielder is willing to learn every day and he is a ‘talented player’ within the game.

“Morgan has been fantastic, but more importantly he’s a fantastic person,” said Coady. “I’ve mentioned before about players willing to learn, and he’s a prime example of that.

“Every single day in training he’s lively. He’s trying to get on the ball and learn from, not just from the manager, but all the players as well.

“He’s still a young player and he recognises that because he’s learning every single day. He’s a fantastic footballer, a talented player – He is one of the ones who is trying to learn every day, he’s been brilliant.”

GIBBS-WHITE NEEDED AT LEEDS

Leeds have needed that attacking bite in midfield even when Marcelo Bielsa was in charge, perhaps what papered over it was the fact that they were so gung-go as a team that it wasn’t obvious.

But now Jesse Marsch has been brought in to cool everything down and balance the side, someone like Gibbs-White would be an outstanding purchase.

The Whites could do with that attacking bite from the middle, and with the likes of Tyler Adams already through the door, then they would compliment each other’s game.

The issue might be the £20 million price-tag and the fact that the Englishman only has one goal and one assist from his 46 Premier League games.

That’s English tax and probably something that didn’t exist when Leeds sold Phillips to Manchester City.
