Tottenham Hotspur made six first-team signings over the summer, but they’re still pursuing a seventh.
Spurs landed Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius, bolstering Jose Mourinho’s squad in key areas.
The only area of concern now is in central defence, where Spurs have failed to bring in a new body despite losing Jan Vertonghen on a free transfer over the summer.
Jose Mourinho does still have Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga at his disposal, but a new face is still being pursued.
With the deadline to sign players from EFL clubs only on October 16th, Tottenham still have more than a week to bring in a Championship defender – and Joe Rodon appears to be the man in demand.
Sky Sports report that Tottenham have held talks with Swansea City over a deal to sign Rodon, with a deal between £7million and £18million being discussed.
The 22-year-old starred under Steve Cooper last season, showing his ability as a physical defender at 6ft 4in tall who can also play out from the back, whilst he is a Welsh international teammate of Ben Davies and Gareth Bale.

Now, Swansea and Wales teammate Connor Roberts has told S4C that he wants Rodon to stay at the Liberty Stadium, joking that he has been ‘poor’ and can’t understand why top clubs want him.
“I will say, he’s been pretty poor over the last season or so,” joked Roberts. “So I’m not sure why the big clubs are looking at him, because, like I say, he’s been poor and not performing well, so I think it would be best if he did stay at Swansea and continued to try and improve.”
“Yeah, I don’t want him to go anywhere. Obviously, there’s been a lot of talk about him going wherever he may go, but hopefully he can stay and he can keep on performing well like he has been,” he added.
