Glasgow Rangers defender Connor Goldson says that Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox side will challenge Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic next season.

Celtic have won the league title in Scotland for the past seven seasons, while Rangers have finished third in the standings in each of the last two campaigns.
Goldson, who has moved to Rangers from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £3 million, believes that the Gers can win the Scottish Premiership title next season.

The 25-year-old central defender has also suggested that Rangers manager Gerrard could make more signings between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
The Ibrox club have been quite busy already this summer, securing the services of Scott Arfield, Nikola Katic, Goldson and Jon Flanagan among others.

“Everyone knows we are going to go into the season being underdogs,” Goldson told The Scottish Sun. “But that is something you have to do in football and underdogs can always win things.
“Celtic have had a good few years, but we have to now put that behind us. It’s a new season, a fresh season, and we have to go into every game believing we can win.
“We have a good squad and the manager is going to bring in a few more new faces. We have got to want to win something.
“It has been a few years now since Rangers have won anything. With the fan base and the size of the club, the fans are craving success.”

Exciting times for Rangers
While it is hard to see Rangers beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title next season, there is no hiding from the fact that the Gers will at least have to try.
It is an exciting time for Rangers, with Liverpool legend Gerrard bringing in new players, and confidence in the Gers’ camp very high at the moment.
