Connor Goldson comments on Rangers bouncing back after Celtic result

Rangers central defender Connor Goldson has told The Scottish Sun that after the defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox, the players were determined to win their following matches before the international break this month.

Steven Gerrard’s side suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Neil Lennon’s Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on September 1.

The two-week international break immediately followed, and since the resumption of club football, Rangers have won against Livingston, Feyenoord, St Johnstone, Livingston again in the Scottish League Cup, and Aberdeen.

Rangers defender Goldson – who cost Rangers £3 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2018, as reported by Sky Sports – has said that the team are determined to win all of their matches after the last international break.

Goldson told The Scottish Sun: “The recent results say a lot about the team’s character. After the Celtic game we looked at this group of fixtures before the next international break and knew we had to pick up maximum points.

“Obviously, on the back of an Old Firm defeat, your next few fixtures are tough.”

Rangers will return to action on Thursday evening when they take on Young Boys away from home in Europa League Group G.
