Rangers are interested in Uche Ikpeazu, according to The Scottish Sun.

The 6’3 hitman has been a big hit at Hearts since moving to The Scottish Premiership last summer and Rangers are seemingly keen.

The 24-year-old struck the winner in the Jambos’ 2-1 win over Aberdeen last weekend.

He has left a lasting impression on the Tynecastle club, despite not being the most prolific of centre-forwards, but he also left a big impression on Gers defender Connor Goldson.

Goldson, a £3 million signing last summer [Record], has come up against the big striker during their respective stints in English football and, speaking before a Rangers game against Hearts earlier this season, the Ibrox centre-back reflected on his battles against Ikpeazu.

He told The Scotsman: “He’s a big lad. I’ve played against him before in League One when I was at Shrewsbury and I think he was only about 16 then and the same size. He hasn’t got any smaller, he’s massive.

“I can’t remember how the game went. I just remember looking at him and thinking, ‘You’re a big boy’.”

Goldson shackled Ikpeazu at Ibrox on that day in October.

The English striker is certainly a physical presence, but he isn’t much of a goal threat. He has only managed to score twice in 13 Premiership outings this season.

Rangers face Hearts tonight, but Ikpeazu is a doubt due to injury.
